The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA) at Shawnee State University will host World Fest performer, Farah Siraj from Jordan on Thursday, Sept. 12. The show, held in the Eloise Covert Smith Theater of the VRCFA, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Named Jordan’s Musical Ambassadress, Farah Siraj balances a career that spans the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, having performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the United Nations, Nobel Prize Hall, World Economic Forum, and Lincoln Center. As a humanitarian, Siraj focuses on raising awareness about the consequences of war and violence, and advocates for women’s rights, refugee rights, and animal rights.
The VRCFA has been selected to partner with regional arts partner, Arts Midwest, for the 2022-2025 World Fest cycle. During this three-year partnership, Arts Midwest is bringing music ensembles from inside and outside the United States to Portsmouth for week-long residencies. Portsmouth is the only Ohio community to be invited to participate in this cycle.
