The Inter-University Council of Ohio Purchasing Group and the State of Ohio Department of Administrative Services have entered into a master vehicle rental contract with Enterprise Rent-a-Car. This contract applies to Shawnee State University. This contract applies to vehicles rented locally and throughout the United States. In addition, the contract includes rental of vehicles from National Car Rental outlets at major airports.
Under this program, authorized customers will be able to rent vehicles at a guaranteed daily rate through a website or by telephone. Rentals include unlimited mileage and all insurance. University employees may also enroll in the “Emerald Club” at no charge.
Enterprise will allow authorized drivers age 18 and over. There is no additional charge for young drivers, nor is there a charge for additional drivers in each vehicle.
Fuel is not included in the rental rate. Drivers should either purchase fuel using a Shawnee State purchasing card or use cash/personal credit card and submit a travel reimbursement request to Accounts Payable.
Enterprise guarantees availability of sedans with reservations. Availability of Minivans, SUVs and 12 passenger vans are guaranteed with a seven (7) day advance reservation. (Note: Van guarantee applies to rentals in Ohio only.) One way rentals are only available through National, and are for airport to airport travel only.
Reservations for rentals by employees may be made online. Payment must be made by Shawnee State Purchasing Card issued in the name of the renter or by personal credit card subject to reimbursement.
Recent media reports indicate that car rental agencies are continuing to rent cars, at least on a case-by-case basis, despite the fact that the car may be the subject of a safety recall. Renters are encouraged to check for safety recalls at http://www.odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallsearch.cfm or search the web for the make, model and year of the offered rental car to check for outstanding safety recalls. If there is a safety recall on the car and the car rental agency will not provide proof of repair, you should ask for another car that does not have an outstanding safety recall.
Personal Use Rentals for Employees
Shawnee State employees may rent vehicles from Enterprise and receive the same rates as those offered for official use. Note that personal rentals DO NOT include insurance and are subject to additional fees for drivers under age 25.
