Request to be a Tutor or Supplemental Instruction Leader

Tutor Guidelines

To be a tutor, students must have:

  • earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and a minimum session GPA of 2.5.
  • earned a grade of B or higher in each course that you tutor. Up to 3 different subject areas can be tutored each semester, and the subject you are tutoring in must have been taken within two years of tutoring.  Tutors work a minimum of 5 hours per week but will not exceed 10 hours in a week. If you can tutor more than one subject, you may work up to 15 hours in one week.
  • completed tutor training and necessary HR paperwork.
  • ability to keep a brief session log of each tutoring session.

Tutors must attend all scheduled tutoring sessions but can cancel with at least two hour notice due to illness or emergency. (Maximum cancellation-3x per semester).

If possible, students will be given preferred days and times based upon requests. However, please list below all of the days and times you are available to tutor or be a SI Leader between the hours indicated.

For example, if you are free from 10 am-2 pm on Tuesdays and could tutor during that time period, then in the space for Tuesday, type 10 am-2 pm. If you are not available during a day listed below, then just leave that day blank.

By submitting this form, I verify that I have read and understand the Tutor and SI Leader Policies and agree to permit the release of my contact information (email and phone number) to the tutee. Training is a requirement, but students will be paid normal hourly rate for time spent in training.
