Shawnee State is a participant in the Workforce Recruitment Program for the 2022-23 academic year. Registration opens on Monday, August 22, 2022. You will need time to get your registration approved, gather your resume and transcript, and complete your application, so please don’t delay!

What is WRP?

The WRP is a recruitment program for students and recent graduates with disabilities, and serves as a primary pipeline for bringing new talent into the Federal Government.

Applying is an excellent way to:

  • Find an internship or permanent position at federal agencies
  • Explore careers in the federal service
  • Gain interviewing experience

Registration and applications are open for six weeks starting August 22, 2022 at WRP.gov.

For more information, contact Heidi Bender Kauffman in Career Services at hbender@shawnee.edu.

The WRP is managed by the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Benefits of WRP for Students

  • Helps students with disabilities think about the career and internship process earlier.
  • Students gain experience with interviews and resumes.
  • Interaction with SSU Career Services utilization of their resources.
  • Gives students a better chance at federal opportunities and introduces them to the federal government.

How WRP Works

  • Students and recent graduates apply online from late August-October.
  • SSU Coordinator confirms and helps find and prepare candidates.
  • Trained volunteer recruiters from federal agencies remotely interview candidates in October-November.
  • Candidate information is entered into database; candidates can update resumes year-round.
  • Database is opened to all agencies nationwide in December and is active for one year. Federal employers search the database for qualified WRP candidates.
