The Alumni Council is the critical link between Shawnee State University and over 13,000 outstanding Bear alumni.
Through a body of representative members, the Alumni Council engages in dialogue to support the University's overall goals of alumni engagement, institutional development, fundraising, student recruitment, and intra-alumni networking.
The Alumni Council meets two times a year to learn about Shawnee State news and initiatives, and to provide valuable feedback and ideas from an alumni perspective. The Winter Meeting includes nomination of new members and Homecoming activities. The Summer Meeting includes orientation and a campus service project. The Alumni Council also nominates and awards a range of Alumni Honors.
The Shawnee State University Alumni Association is looking for proven leaders to be a part of the Alumni Council.
The minimum qualifications for satisfactory service to the Alumni Council are:
- Accept a two-year commitment
- Attend a Winter and Summer meeting on campus
- Sign Shawnee Fund appeal letters
- Actively promote on-campus Homecoming activities
- Participate in either the Alumni Mentoring Program or Shawnee Fund Phone-a-thon
