Teaching Degree: Grades 7-12
It's easy to tell when teachers are passionate about their subject. When you love what you're teaching, your students will be more excited about learning. So whether your passion is for Language Arts & Reading, Mathematics, Science, Earth Science, Life Science, Physical Science, or Social Studies, our four-year program will prepare you to walk confidently into your first classroom.
In the adolescent to young adult teaching degree program at Shawnee State, you'll learn the methods and skills you need to teach in your area of concentration. Our program combines clinical (teaching) experience with classroom learning, and gives you all the coursework you need to sit for the Ohio licensure exams.
In your first year in our program, you'll focus on general education and basic teaching courses to build a solid foundation. In your second year, you'll gradually add more specialized courses in your area of concentration. By years three and four, you'll combine clinical experience with secondary education courses and courses in your area of concentration.
