Shawnee State University’s Office of the President has announced the appointment of Jim Farmer as the Chief Enrollment Officer, providing leadership for Enrollment Management functions on campus.

“We are pleased to announce a new Enrollment Management organization that brings together the offices of Admissions, Bursar, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Business Center to maximize resources, improve student-centered processes, and strengthen communications to students,” Eric Braun, SSU’s Vice President for Advancement & Enrollment Management and incoming Interim President beginning Jul. 1, 2023, said.

Farmer brings nearly two decades of professional experience in admissions and enrollment management. Since 2015, he has led the Office of Admissions through major improvements in processes, technology, strategies, and relationships. He led the implementation of a new CRM platform and oversaw significant year-over-year increases in new student applications and registrations.

“I’m looking forward to developing a collaborative environment among these five offices to better serve our student population,” said Farmer. “With a student-first approach, our division will be able to meet students’ needs easier and continue to advance enrollment moving forward.”

An alumnus of SSU, Farmer received his bachelor’s degree in psychology and holds a master’s degree in higher education with a concentration in institutional research from Penn State University. He is in the process of obtaining a Strategic Enrollment Management certificate through AACRAO. For over ten years, he has served as the University’s Course Applicability System (CAS) expert and faculty liaison.
