A junior at Shawnee State University, Anthony McAllister is majoring in Digital Simulation & Game Engineering Technologies. A native Canal Winchester, he chose to attend SSU to pursue a degree in a nationally-ranked program.
“My parents always told me to find something I would do if I was not paid to do it, and that certainly is programming,” he said. “This is so partly because there is something in it for me other than pay: discovery and learning!”
As a gaming major, McAllister enjoys the opportunity to explore his interests in his classwork.
“There is always something to learn and that invigorates me,” he said.
McAllister is known across campus for the various clubs and organizations he is a part of. To name a few, he is a tutor in the campus math center, serves as the gaming chair of the Student Programming Board, was nominated for Homecoming King this year, and works as an operator for the Clark Planetarium in the Advanced Technology Center.
“As an operator, I host some of our public and private shows at the Clark Planetarium on campus,” he said. “I encourage anyone that has the chance to stop by Mondays or Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. for our free weekly public shows!”
