Carcich’s journey from military officer to becoming a senior figure at Riot Games – where he contributed to League of Legends during its post-launch phase from 2011 to 2020 – exemplifies his unique perspective on leadership and innovation within game development. After his time at Riot Games, Carcich founded a consultancy in 2020, focusing on empowering producers, studios, and publishers through enhanced leadership strategies.

“We are thrilled to have Benjamin Carcich share his insights and experiences with our attendees at this year’s Shawnee Game Conference,” said SSU Director of the Kricker Innovation Hub and SGC Conference Chair, Dr. Amanda Hedrick. “His expertise in game development, coupled with his dedication to leadership and agility, makes him a perfect fit for our conference as we continue to explore the cutting-edge of digital and immersive technologies.”

Carcich, a certified Co-Active Coach and officially licensed ICAgile training, has been at the forefront of teaching agility, production, and game development leadership since 2015. He hosts the popular Building Better Games podcast and newsletter, and continues to speak at prestigious industry events, including GDC 2024.

The longest-running academic game conference in the Midwest, SGC 2024 will be held on SSU’s campus Nov. 1 & 2. Continuing a tradition of fostering innovation and creativity in the gaming industry, SGC features interactive sessions and exhibitions hosted by industry professionals, successful SSU alumni, and current gaming students.
