Shawnee State University scholarship prizes totaling $5,000!
The competition is open to any 9th – 12th grade student, from any high school (or home school), in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, or Indiana.
2 Contests: Team and Individual
All students will compete as individuals, and anyone can compete as part of a 4-person team. Anyone wishing to compete in the team competition, but not already registered as part of a team, will be assigned a team until an even number of teams are made. Team prizes are split between team members. There are prizes for the 1st and 2nd place teams in the tournament.
Team Competition
Team competition will be quiz-bowl tournament style, 4 members per team. Teams can consist of students from the same school, or from different schools. One school can field multiple teams.
- 1st Place: $200 SSU Scholarship for each team member
- 2nd Place: $100 SSU Scholarship for each team member
Individual Competition
Individual competition will be held the same day, in the form of a timed pencil and paper written exam. Prizes for the individual contest will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
- 1st Place: $2,000 SSU Scholarship
- 2nd Place: $1,000 SSU Scholarship
- 3rd Place: $500 SSU Scholarship

Mystery Mathematical Prizes
One optional bonus problem will be given during the day and displayed at the welcome with a box for collecting responses anytime throughout the day. Correct answers will gain entry into the bonus prize drawings for the Mystery Mathematical Prizes (You’ll be glad you won! One of the prizes is a finely detailed, hand-carved Turkish chess set).
