Shawnee State University’s community-service based club, Circle K International, recently hosted a Coat Drive on campus to collect winter items for students, including coats, sweaters, jackets, and flannels.

Circle K members pass out coats collected during their Coat Drive at Shawnee State University to students in need.

“We collected the items by advertising across campus and social media, and having anyone bring in any unwanted items they had,” said Makayla Aiken, President of the Circle K club on campus.

Circle K focuses on helping the community as a whole and is a college service branch of Kiwanis International. Throughout the year, club members will volunteer with several local organizations and Key clubs from local high schools. For their Coat Drive, the group accepted donations of coats from students and staff at SSU as well as from the surrounding community.

“It means a lot to me to do this project, because I love Shawnee as well as all of the Circle K members,” Aiken said. “We hope this helps some students have a better experience at SSU.”
