“We value our employees and believe this agreement reflects our commitment to investing in the people who make Shawnee State a great place to work and learn,” SSU Interim President Eric Braun said.

In a joint statement, Braun and CWA leaders praised the negotiations team for reaching an agreement quickly.

“I am incredibly proud of our CWA Bargaining Team and Shawnee State members,” Linda L. Hinton, Vice President, CWA District 4, said. “This contract reflects the priorities we brought to the bargaining table on wages, jobs, and the impact it has on the community.”

The new agreement reflects a new salary structure with pay increases in the first year of the three-year contract, an increase in shift differential, and an increase in reimbursement for uniform items.

“The University administration made themselves readily available to answer questions, do calculations, and provide timely responses to our proposals during negotiations, enabling us to come to an agreement in a much shorter timeframe than in years past,” Jacqui Allen, Local 4372 Vice President, said.

Braun said that SSU’s hourly staff, which includes administrative assistants, custodians, maintenance and support staff, are vital to the operations of the institution.

“Providing a quality education takes all of us working together to give students and families the best experience possible — I am extremely proud of our CWA team,” he said.
