The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA) at Shawnee State University will open the 2024-2025 Performing Arts Series on Wednesday, Sept. 25 with “Always Loretta”, a tribute to Loretta Lynn. The show, to be held in the Eloise Covert Smith Theater of the VRCFA, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Authorized and approved by the Loretta Lynn family, “Always Loretta” is an intimate evening of songs and stories by those who knew her best. The show features Emily Portman, who has garnered unanimous praise for her singing portrayal of Loretta Lynn, and original members of Loretta Lynn’s band, “The Coalminers”. They join to tell the story of this groundbreaking singer and songwriter whose body of work designed a genre and whose songs have inspired a new generation of musicians.
Tickets for “Always Loretta” are available $37.00 for Standard, $34.00 for Seniors, and $28.00 for 18 & Under. All tickets can be purchased at the McKinley Box Office in-person, Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., or over the phone at (740) 351-3600.
