Celebrating 10 years of accreditation, Shawnee State University’s Healthcare Administration bachelor’s degree recently renewed its Health Service Executive (HSE) academic accreditation at this year’s annual meeting held in Chicago, IL last month. SSU’s program is the only program leading to a business degree in the state of Ohio that is fully-accredited by the National Association of Long-Term Care Administration Boards (NAB).

“The Shawnee State University Healthcare Administration program first received NAB Accreditation in June of 2012,” SSU Associate Professor of Healthcare Administration, Dr. Sarah Boehle said. “The HSE program prepares graduates to seek licensure in Nursing Home Administration, Residential Care and/or Assisted Living, and Home & Community Based Service leadership.”

SSU’s Bachelor’s In Healthcare Administration prepares students for a number of career paths and also to further their education by continuing on to pursue a graduate level degree. The program offers two degree tracks – Healthcare Administration, focusing on management and administrative careers in hospitals, and Long-term Care Administration, giving students experience working in senior centers, adult day centers, home care organizations, hospice organizations, assisted living/residential care centers, and long-term care facilities.

“Shawnee State is excited to continue our proud tradition of preparing leaders to work in health care organizations, nursing facilities, and community-based settings to serve our communities, older adults, and those with disabilities,” said Dr. Boehle upon the program’s accreditation renewal.
