A community service-based club at Shawnee State University, the Circle K International club recently received numerous awards for acts of service and club projects. Chartering in the autumn semester, the club has made strives to expand their outreach into the community through volunteering, the #CoolKidsRead project, and community service projects on campus.

Attending the Ohio District of Circle K International Convention in Columbus, the members of Circle K at SSU were marking the end of the service year. The event allowed the students to gather with other clubs, network, share ideas, and celebrate the service completed this year.

“Our club received the Single Service Award, which recognized the best service project of the year,” said Jake Alley, President of the Circle K International Club. “We received this award for our coat drive that we did during the fall semester. Our club also received 3rd Place in the Silver Division for the Daniel J. Romanello Achievement Award that recognizes and honors those Circle K clubs that have excelled in all aspects of club operation.”

Alley Alley also received personal awards for his time and dedication to the chapter including the Lanton Lee Outstanding President Award, the Annamarie McGuire Public Relations Award for his work on the club’s web presence, and the Vision Award for exemplifying Ohio District’s Circle K mission. In addition to these awards, he received the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation Scholarship for $1,000.

Circle K club advisor, Angie Duduit also received the Kenneth H. Weeks Outstanding Kiwanian Award - an award is given to the Kiwanian who has contributed the most growth, achievement, and ideals of Circle K International. The Kiwanian is nominated by a Circle K International member.
