Shawnee State University’s Office of the Provost has announced Jeff Hamilton will serve as Interim Dean of Students starting November 1, 2024.
“We are delighted to have Jeff step into this important role,” said Dr. Kimberly Inman, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs. “He has a proven track record as a student advocate and mentor, and he brings more than 20 years of institutional knowledge to the position.”
As Shawnee State University Athletic Director from 2008 to 2023, Hamilton grew the program to include 22 competitive collegiate varsity teams that consistently excel in their fields, as well as celebrated national championship titles for Men’s Basketball, Esports, and Indoor Track & Field in recent years.
Starting in 2023, Hamilton served as Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations for the university. In this role, he worked to strengthen relationships with area businesses, private foundations, and alumni, advisory, and volunteer boards.
“I'm looking forward to working more closely with students, again, and connecting them with activities and resources outside of the classroom that enhance their experiences at Shawnee State,” Hamilton said. “These connections are vital to student success.”
As Interim Dean of Students, Hamilton will serve as a key resource for Shawnee State students. This role encompasses overseeing student support services, managing student conduct and disciplinary matters, and fostering a positive campus environment.
Hamilton earned his Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration from Ohio University and Bachelor’s in History from the College of Wooster.
Shawnee State would like to thank outgoing Dean of Students, Dr. Elizabeth Kline, for her service. “We appreciate Dr. Kline’s leadership and commitment to our students,” said university President Eric Andrew Braun. “We wish her all the best.”
