Markee Osborne has been appointed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine as a new member of the Shawnee State University Board of Trustees.

Markee Osborne

“As graduate of Shawnee State I know personally the impact this institution has on people’s lives,” Osborne said. “I am honored for the opportunity to help Shawnee continue to build on a remarkable legacy that is helping generations across the region grow in their education and start great careers.”

Osborne received her bachelor’s degree from SSU in 2013. She served as a senior legislative aide in the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate. She has also held positions with the Ohio Treasurer of State and Ohio Department of Development. She also attended the Jo Ann Davidson Leadership Institute in the class of 2019. Osborne is now the Manager of Government Affairs for American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio.

“Welcoming Markee to the board is another testament to the impact Shawnee alumni are having in careers and leadership,” SSU Interim President Eric Braun said. “In 10 short years she has made great inroads in several areas of state government as well as industry. Bringing this experience to her alma mater’s board is an outstanding opportunity to help us continue to plan for Shawnee’s future.”

“I’m looking forward to working with the other board members not only to address current challenges in higher education, but to help plan for a sustainable future for the university and all the students and forthcoming students we serve,” Osborne said.
