While SSU is an open enrollment institution, teacher licensure is a selective admission program. As such, the successful graduate and licensed teacher will have completed admission requirements as s/he progressed through the program.
The SSU School of Education has developed curriculum in all programs to prepare educators for licensure in the state of Ohio. Completion of an Educator Preparation Program at SSU will also meet the requirements for licensure in Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, and Oklahoma. For those completing an Educator Preparation Program at SSU AND holding a valid Ohio teaching license may be eligible to obtain provisional or standard licensure in other states. Additional testing, background clearance, and other requirements may need to be met prior to applying for admission in those states.
