An SSU alumnus, Daniels is the Senior Vice President and Chief Security Officer for Columbus-based Cardinal Health, where he has served in various positions for more than 23 years.

“Being from the Portsmouth area, Shawnee State University gave me the best opportunity to start my higher education journey,” Daniels said. “I am grateful for this appointment and a chance to give back. I want to make sure this university is able to serve others as well as it did me.”

Daniels earned his associate’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering at SSU. The early 1980s economy forced Daniels to leave the area, but he has remained dedicated to Shawnee State, serving six years on the SSU Development Foundation Board of Trustees.

“We have outstanding talent and resources in southern Ohio,” he said. “Shawnee State offers the opportunity for local people to build on their skill sets and establish successful careers right in our region.”

An outspoken advocate of entrepreneurism, Daniels’ support helped launch the SSU Development Foundation Entrepreneurship Fund.

“The problem-solving approach that aspiring entrepreneurs embrace is exactly what we need in today's economy,” Daniels said. “Where some people see impossible hurdles, others see challenges worth overcoming, and tremendous opportunity that comes with success. We have an abundance of that attitude in our area and at SSU.”

Daniels also served as an advisor for the recently launched bachelor’s degree program in Information Security.
