Shawnee State University’s Theta Phi Alpha (TPA) sorority recently hosted their annual Bump in the Night volleyball tournament to benefit their historical philanthropy Glenmary Home Missioners. The philanthropy serves the needs of residents living in Appalachia distributing food, clothing, books, and assists in providing medical care, job training, and tutoring. TPA raised over $350 during their event in donations for the philanthropy.

“Bump in the Night was a huge success,” said junior Madison Justice, TPA’s Philanthropy Chair and event organizer. “Our school really showed up for our event and we couldn’t be prouder to be a part of Theta Phi Alpha and to be a Shawnee State Bear.”

The event hosted over 15 teams competing throughout the night in the Waller Gymnasium in the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center. Held annually prior to Halloween weekend, the event hosted a costume contest in addition to the volleyball tournament.
