A junior at Shawnee State University, Caleb Fryman is excited to be preparing for a future that allows him to combine his academic dedication, entrepreneurial spirit, and passion for technology. A native of Maysville, Kentucky, Fryman’s journey into the world of cybersecurity began at a young age, where he assumed the role of the family's “tech expert.”
Majoring in Information Security (Cybersecurity) and minoring in Business Administration, Fryman’s long-term career goal is to start his own tech company. In his courses, he’s working hard to understand how fortifying digital infrastructures can protect against emerging threats. He hopes to use his degree to fill a market gap by offering innovative solutions that prioritize efficiency and security.
In SSU’s Information Security program, students gain a strong foundation in business administration while learning to develop problem solving and communication skills necessary to function effectively with end-users and decision makers throughout all levels of the organization. The program is one of the few of its kind in the country and is unique in the state of Ohio, where students learn how to detect and defend against network infrastructure attacks by learning how to think like a hacker, and how to use the tools hackers use to penetrate network defenses.
Acknowledging the challenges of the growing cybersecurity field, Fryman is grateful for the support of his professors, whose encouragement pushes him to strive for excellence. He feels in his courses that he’s been introduced to many new avenues within the technology field and is ready to help make that world a safer place.
