Megan Steele, a Chillicothe, Ohio native, has found where she belongs in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Shawnee State University.
“I chose Shawnee because it’s close to home, has affordable tuition, and smaller classes for one-on-one time with professors,” she said.
Steele originally considered pursuing a different degree within the allied health science programs before ultimately deciding on applying to the nursing program.
“I decided to switch to the nursing program because there is hands-on experience, the professors are personable and attentive, and there are lots of internship opportunities,” she said. “The program is known for good job placements after graduation.”
Although this is Steele’s first semester in the Nursing program, she has already gained wide knowledge and experience in the field. Every week, she and her classmates have direct learning experiences in either lab or clinical sessions at a local hospital.
“In clinicals the nurses are willing to teach and allow us to see real-life situations,” she said. “In lab, we have great technology that makes everything seem real.”
Educating those just beginning their nursing educational journey to licensed nurses seeking high quality educational opportunities, the SSU School of Nursing is continuing to respond to the wide demand for more prepared nurses. The school is in the process of developing plans for additional pathways to nursing, accelerated degrees, and advanced degrees – including a Master of Science in Nursing.
