Shawnee State’s Ashlynn Pfau receives Trustees’ Award

Shawnee State University senior Ashlynn Pfau presented her own project of increasing environmental awareness through childhood literacy at this year’s Celebration of Scholarship conference. A Natural Science major concentrated on Biology, Pfau’s project “You Can Be An Earth Warrior Too”, a children’s book she created from scratch, was recognized with the Trustees’ Award by the conference committee.

Double majoring at Shawnee State University, junior Angel Hammond has always had a curiosity and passion for technology and innovation. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering Technology and an associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing Technology.

Shawnee State University’s Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program partnered with the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) to provide community education through in-person presentations that took place throughout Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, and Scioto counties.

Shawnee State University announces 2024 Celebration of Scholarship Awards

The Celebration of Scholarship Committee at Shawnee State University has announced the 2024 award winners for the annual graduate and undergraduate conference. The SSU Board of Trustee presents up to two awards each year to students enrolled at SSU and are participants in Celebration of Scholarship. The Trustees’ Award is for outstanding research that is investigative, project-based, inquiry-based, open-minded and/or exploratory. This year’s award is presented to Ashlyn Pfau for her research “You Can Be an Earth Warrior Too”. 

First-Generation mentorship program provides guidance to SSU’s Mullins

Kayla Mullins, a Wheelersburg, Ohio native, has benefited from the guidance and mentorship provided in the I Am First Gen mentorship program at Shawnee State University. First-generation college students are traditionally categorized as the first in their family to pursue a bachelor’s degree. As a first-gen student, Mullins has been grateful to be able to connect with her mentor for any guidance she may need with classes or college in general.
