Shawnee State University’s Office of the Provost has announced Dr. David DeSario, Professor of Mathematical Sciences, will serve as the university’s Faculty Director of Graduate Programs.

“My main goals are to grow and to support our current graduate programs while also helping to create new graduate programs,” said Dr. DeSario. “Our Graduate School includes many well-established programs, a new MBA program which began this academic year, and a couple of new programs on the way.”

Dr. DeSario, who has been with the university for eleven years, has taught undergraduate math classes as well as a core number of courses for the graduate math program during his time at SSU. He has served on several committees within the university including the University Distance Learning Committee since 2015 and the Education Policy & Curriculum Committee for the past two years.

“With our plans to add more graduate programs and pursue significant, achievable, and necessary growth in graduate areas in SSU, David will provide leadership and management as we establish an appropriate graduate organizational structure at the university,” SSU Provost Dr. Sunil Ahuja said.

SSU’s Graduate School offers five master programs and several academic certificates across the university’s specialties – including in business, education, composition, mathematics, and occupational therapy. The Graduate School also offers the Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate – the first doctoral program on SSU’s campus.

“It is certainly an exciting time to be involved with our Graduate School and I look forward to providing leadership and support in my new position,” said Dr. DeSario.
