About the Bear Run
: The Shawnee State Bear Run is a biannual event, which is held each Fall and Spring on the campus of Shawnee State University. The first race occurred in Fall 1995 and has since become a huge tradition at Shawnee State.

Award Categories: Shawnee State will award an overall winner for male runner, female runner and overall walker and top 3 in each age group for the 5k run and walkers. 

Runner Categories (Male and Female, age on race day) 10 years old and under       
  11-14 years old
  15-18 years old
  19-24  years old
  25-39 years old
  40-54 years old
  55-70 years old
  70 years old and up 
Walker (Male and Female, age on race day) 59 years old and under
  60 years old and up

Course: A new course was created in Spring 2017 that begins and ends on 3rd Street by the Vern Riffe Center and travels through campus and along the Portsmouth Ohio Murals along the Ohio River. Course Map
