In-State Tuition for Kentucky Neighbors
If you are a resident of Boyd, Bracken, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lawrence, Lewis, Mason, Robertson or Rowan County in Kentucky, you automatically qualify for in-state tuition rates providing you have lived there for the previous 12 months.
Kentucky Scholars
All outstanding Kentucky students have an opportunity to attend Shawnee State University
at the lower in-state tuition costs through the Kentucky Scholars Program — no matter
where you live in the state!
If you are an incoming freshman from Kentucky and have achieved a composite score
of 18 or higher on the ACT (combined mathematics and critical reading SAT scores of
870 or higher) and have a high school grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0
scale, you may qualify.
Transfer Students Qualify for the Kentucky Scholars, too!
New transfer students may quality for the Kentucky Scholars scholarship with a minimum cumulative college grade point average of 2.75 or higher. The scholarship is equal to the out-of-state surcharge, lowering your tuition to the in-state rate. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years contingent upon completing 28 semester hours per year and maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0.
West Virginia Scholars
All outstanding incoming first-time freshman and new transfer students from West Virginia
now have an opportunity to attend Shawnee State at the lower in-state tuition cost
through the West Virginia Scholars Program.
You qualify if you are an incoming first-time freshmen from West Virginia with a composite
score of 18 or higher on the ACT (combined mathematics and critical reading SAT scores
of 870 or higher) and high school grade point average of at least 2.75 (4.0 scale).
Transfer Students Qualify for West Virginia Scholars, too!
New transfer students from West Virginia may qualify for the scholarship with a minimum cumulative college grade point average of 2.75 or higher. The scholarship is equal to the out-of-state surcharge, lowering your tuition to the in-state rate. Shawnee State now offers in-state tuition for incoming first-time freshmen and new
transfer students from participating states in the Midwestern Higher Education Compact.
