SSU Common Read

The Shawnee State University Common Read is a book chosen to enhance the knowledge of current topics which are important to our society. Each year, a book is chosen to be read by the SSU community to prompt thoughtful discussion pertaining to a certain issue.

After much discussion, the Common Read for the 2017-2018 academic year is, “A Hope More Powerful Than the Sea”, by Melissa Fleming. This book entails information of the journey a Syrian refugee, Doaa Al Zamel, of love, loss, and survival in the wake of political discord.
