Plastics Day is an interactive campus visit program which allows you to learn about Shawnee State's Plastics Engineering Technology program.

You’ll get to meet with current students, successful alumni, and faculty.

Plastics is the largest business in Ohio and is a global growth industry, having averaged about 15% growth per year for the last 20 years.


Join us Friday, December 7, 2018.

Plastics Day will start promptly at 9:30 am, with registration beginning at 9 am at the entrance to the Advanced Technology Center. Your day includes a campus tour, parent and student interactive workshops, academic and scientific presentations, and of course, lunch!

Plus, Plastics Day qualifies as a college visit for juniors or seniors attending high school. Staff from the Office of Admission will be available to sign campus visit verification forms.

Hands-on Sessions

Plastics Part Design, 3D Printing & Prototyping

Learn how to design plastic parts using computers, and how to print 3D versions of the part.


How to Make a Plastic Part

Operating injection molding and extrusion machines. Visitors are able to operate plastics processing equipment such as extruders, injection molding machines, and rotational molders to produce and take home your choice of a polymer based plastic product like ice scrapers, a Frisbee, or a piggy bank.

SSU Plastics Classes

Our plastics engineering technology program provides a solid theoretical foundation upon which to build a thorough understanding of polymer processing operations. Extensive “hands on” laboratory experience is provided in order that students can apply the technical knowledge acquired, using industrial scale equipment. We also have classes in 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
