JobFest -- March 21, 2017

All employers are invited to attend our annual JobFest!
The goal of JobFest is to connect Shawnee State students and alumni
with the great opportunities offered by employers.
JobFest will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.
This is a great opportunity for employers to recruit qualified students for both internships and job openings
and interview candidates on site.  Registration will be open through Monday, March 6, 2017.
You may register using our Online Google Form.
Please contact the Office of Career Development with any questions
at 740-351-3027, or by email at Careers@shawnee.edu.

What We Do

Internship and Co-op Opportunities: We are working to connect our Shawnee State students with the regional business community.

We are partnering with our regional businesses and organizations to increase internship and co-op opportunities for our students.  This allows our students to apply and extend what they have learned at Shawnee State to gain real-world experience for their resumes.  Consequently, they receive a well balanced education that prepares them for the workplace and introduces them to occupations and work places that otherwise might not have been considered as career options.

Workforce Development: We are working to support the needs of our regional business community.

We are partnering with our regional businesses and organizations to provide needed training and commercial services both on and off campus.  Local companies work with our faculty members and students to conduct experimental research on campus.  In the fall of 2016, our new mobile training unit, made possible by a grant through the Ohio Department of Education's RAPIDS program, will become available to provide area businesses with additive manufacturing services as well as programmable logic controller (PLC) training.

Entrepreneurship:  We are working to encourage the creation of new business in our community.

Shawnee State University will be a leader in regional entrepreneurism when our new Innovation Accelerator opens on Chillicothe Street in downtown Portsmouth in 2017.  Students, faculty mentors, business leaders and community members will meet here to research, collaborate and develop team-building and leadership skills to support local entrepreneurs.

Join SSU Career Connections

Shawnee State University uses Purple Briefcase to operate SSU Career Connections, our main means of sharing job and internship opportunities with our students and alumni. If you are a regional employer who has not yet connected and you would like to join, please contact the Workforce Development office at Shawnee State at (740) 351-3322 or email aduduit@shawnee.edu. This network will allow you to post jobs and internships, request on-campus interviews/recruitment times, register for career fairs and other events and search for qualified student candidates.
