In order to tutor a class, you must have received at least a 'B' in the course and have the instructor's recommendation. You must also be enrolled as a full-time student at Shawnee State University.

You must request and complete an "Application to Tutor" card from the Student Success Center.

After turning in the completed card, you must go to the Personnel/Payroll (Commons, Rm 021) to fill out the necessary paperwork. When doing this you will need a driver's license, social security card, and/or birth certificate.

Please note: A tutor cannot be paid until the payroll paperwork is processed.

A timesheet is kept at the front counter of the Student Success Center.

As a tutor you are responsible for attending and participating in tutor training sessions as they are offered. Also, as part of being a tutor you are eligible to work up to 20 hours per week during Fall, and Spring semesters. During the Summer Semester you will be allowed to tutor up to 30 hours per week.

It is very important that you realize that tutees rely on the assistance you provide them. This is why tutoring sessions must continue through finals week. It is during this time that tutoring sessions are vital to tutees.
