CRIME  ALERT
Shawnee State University Security Department

9-15-2008

Several incidents of vehicle break-ins have taken place at campus parking lots within the past couple weeks. These incidents have taken place at different times of the day and night. In most instances, the vehicle driver has left valuable items out in plain site to be seen by the thieves.

In an effort to reduce these types of incidents please follow these crime prevention tips:

1)     1)  Do not leave valuables inside the vehicle while attending class or living in a residence hall. Do not make yourself an easy target

2)     2)  Secure valuables in the trunk if possible or in residence hall or at home

3)     3)  Take advantage of the SSU Operation Identification program and borrow an engraver from the SSU Security Office to mark your valuables

4)     4)  Be aware of your surroundings. Notify SSU Security at 3232 or 3243 if you see suspicious activity on campus parking lots.
