NEW GRADUATE DEGREE (Fall, 2008)

Master of Business Administration

with a concentration in Entrepreneurship

The University of Rio Grande plans to offer the MBA in Entrepreneurship on the Shawnee State University campus from Fall of 2008 through Summer, 2010.  If you are interested in the MBA, please contact Jason Winters, Graduate Recruiter, ASAP (1-800-282-7201 ext. 7166) or jwinters@rio.eduThe first class will begin on  August 26, 2008, with all classes scheduled on Tuesday nights for the duration of the program.

Rio Grande’s MBA program in Entrepreneurship is perfect for area residents who want to start their own businesses or who are working their way up in the business world, but it also fits well with people who work for large corporations. Today’s corporate world values entrepreneurship, and the skills taught in this program are relevant for all business professionals.

Students who take the MBA program at Shawnee State University will be able to complete their work in two years (six semesters), while taking classes only one night per week. This schedule was set up to allow students with work or family responsibilities to complete the program with minimal travel time.

Master of Education with a concentration in
Intervention Specialist Mild/Moderate

The University of Rio Grande began offering their graduate program in Intervention Specialist in Fall 2001. For information, contact: Doug Sturgeon (1.800.282.7201 ext. 7342) or e-mail:  dsturgeon@rio.edu

The Master of Education Degree in Intervention Specialist Mild/Moderate is designed for K-12 teachers who desire to gain knowledge and a broad strategy base for teaching students who have mild to moderate disabilities. These students include those identified with learning disabilities, mental retardation, emotional disabilities, or physical disabilities, but exclude students identified with visual or hearing disabilities. The graduate degree may lead to a license in Intervention Specialist: Mild/Moderate after passing the Praxis II exam, and successfully completing student teaching, which may be done in the teacher's own classroom. Shawnee State's undergraduate degree also qualifies the student for a mild/moderate intervention specialist license. These programs are the ideal way to convert a temporary special education certificate to the appropriate teaching license.  The Fall 2008 courses will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings, beginning the week of August 25, 2008.
