This means you are now eligible for up to $2,000 more in Stafford loans per academic year. The aggregate loan limits are increasing, also. Currently, a dependent student can borrow up to $23,000 while earning an undergraduate degree. As of July 1, 2008, a dependent student may borrow up to $31,000. Also beginning July 1, 2008, an independent student may borrow up to $57,500 while earning an undergraduate degree.
