Perform general clerical duties such as typing,
answering phones, relaying messages, filing, document imaging,
photocopying; assist with payroll duties including timesheet
verification and maintaining records; must maintain confidential
information. Supervisor may assign special projects.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Assist department staff with office functions such as answering phone,
greeting visitors, word processing, data entry, and postal mailings. Respond
to telephone and visitor questions with specific information. Direct complex
questions concerning University policy to supervisor or appropriate person.
Pick up/deliver correspondence to various departments on campus.
- May assist new employees with employment/payroll paperwork, explaining
each form so that new employee understands what they are completing and/or
why it is required.
- Set up and maintain employee, timesheet, and leave form files per
established procedures.
- Operate office machines such as a calculator, personal computer,
document scanner, printers and photocopier. Collate and assemble documents
for distribution and/or filing.
- Open, sort, record and distribute department mail as needed or
instructed by department secretary.
- Assist with applicant and employee correspondence and mailings. May type
routine correspondence and memoranda, and/or proof documents for accuracy.
- Review time reports for accuracy. May enter hours worked on excel spread
sheet, enter various department supplied spread sheets (tutor, VRCFA shows,
bear cubs, and after school mall) into HR/Payroll system. Help balance
payroll register to excel spread sheet.
- Prepare candidate recruitment and employee orientation materials,
mailings, etc.
- Specialized project data entry into HR/P system as may be required from
time to time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to use correct grammar, punctuation and spelling in order to
compose and proof typed materials.
- Ability to file accurately a must.
- Ability to do moderate level arithmetic calculations when verifying
calculations on forms and to maintain records according to alphabetic or
numeric systems. Analytical skills needed to detect computational errors.
- Ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail for a substantial
amount of time.
- Pleasant interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with
visitors and employees, and to provide information with courtesy and tact.
- Have a working knowledge of commonly used Microsoft software programs
such as Word and Excel.
ATHLETICS - LIFEGUARD/FRONT DESK ATTENDANT
Report to: Chris Brown
- Athletic Center, Phone 351-3269
Description: Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the safety of all patrons in the swimming pool, on deck,
and in the whirlpool by staying on deck at all times and maintaining
visual contact of all patrons
- Observe and enforce the rules of the Athletic Center and
Natatorium
- Maintain the chemical balance of the swimming pool and
whirlpool; clean pool, whirlpool, and deck as needed
- Maintain complete and accurate records of the chemical readings,
and maintenance & cleaning activities
- Set up or tear down pool accessories, depending on event(s)
scheduled
- Answer telephone
- Supply sign-in sheets for classes
- Schedule racquetball appointments & maintain racquetball rental
schedule
- Monitor towel and lock rental service
- Answer questions/direct patrons & walk-ins
- Register renewal memberships and new members
- Orient new patrons to the facility
- Be courteous and friendly to all facility users
Student MUST be a Certified Lifeguard and Certified in CPR
