University Students ‘Give Back’ to the Community
More than 500 Shawnee State University students volunteered
in Portsmouth on Monday, Aug. 17 working at 30 different
organizations and service projects. Students cleaned up the
river, painted the Scioto County Dog Pound, visited several
retirement and senior homes, washed cars for charity, pulled
weeds and planted flowers, worked for the City of
Portsmouth, Main Street Portsmouth, the Portsmouth Public
Library, the Children’s Learning Center, the Homeless
Shelter and they worked on a Habitat for Humanity house. In
the photo, students meet at the Carriage House parking lot
to pick up T-shirts and take buses to the various locations
to perform volunteer work.
