Student Programming Board Plans Events for Shawnee State
University Students
At Shawnee State University, the Student Programming Board
plans events for students and helps keep students actively
involved at the university. The student-run organization is
busy at Halloween with many activities planned for “Scare
Week.”
“We typically think of things that we would like to do that
would benefit the other students,” said Maggie O’Malley,
president of SPB.
The organization plans events such as midnight bowling,
midnight movies, crafts and the upcoming Scare Week.
“We like to give kids a reason not to party and to stick
around on weekends,” said Doug Kemerer, vice president of
SPB.
Scare Week will take place during the week of Oct. 26-30.
SPB has planned the following events for Scare Week:
• Monday, Oct. 26 from 8-10 p.m. in UC Lobby - A Haunted
Halloween with Dr. Mark Mirabello. Mirabello will be
speaking about the paranormal and legends of Halloween.
• Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 5-8 p.m. – “Spooktacular” Treats and
Costumes. Cookies and cupcakes will be available to ice and
there will be a costume contest.
• Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. – Children’s Halloween
Carnival. A Halloween Carnival for the children of SSU
faculty and students.
• Thursday, Oct. 29 from 5-8 p.m. - Pimp Your Pumpkin.
Pumpkins will be available for students to paint and
decorate.
• Friday, Oct. 30 from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. – Halloween Costume
Dance. Tickets on sale from Monday, Oct. 26- Friday, Oct. 30
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for $5 in the U.C. Lobby or buy your
