The Home for Aged Women Scholarship awarded to three area
students at Shawnee State University
The Shawnee State University Scholarship Committee awarded
three area students the 2009-10 Home for Aged Women
Scholarship of $200.
Recipient Monica Giles, daughter of Michael and Essie Giles,
of Ironton, Ohio, in Lawrence County, is a 1991 graduate of
Symmes Valley High School. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma
and was named on the Dean’s List in Fall of 2007 at SSU. She
is pursuing a degree in medical laboratory technician and
plans to work in a hospital lab after graduating from SSU.
Recipient Courtney Bronty, daughter of Jacki Adkins, of
Proctorville, Ohio, in Lawrence County, is a 2007 graduate
of Fairfield High School. In high school she was a member of
Math Club, French Club and Student Council. Before attending
SSU she attended Ohio University. Bronty plans to work in
the allied health field.
Recipient Crystal Ellison, of South Point, Ohio, in Lawrence
County, is a 2001 graduate of Lawrence County High School.
In high school she was a member of the Key Club and Drama
Club. Ellison is pursuing a degree in nursing.
The funds of this scholarship are administered by the SSU
Development Foundation. Individuals or organizations
