The Theater Department at Shawnee State University has a lineup of all the productions the 2012-13 season beginning with Arthur Miller's drama "All My Sons" running four nights at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3 through Saturday, Oct. 6 in the Kahl Studio Theater.
Based on a true story, Miller weaves a poignant tale of power in the lives of the Keller and Deever families. During World War II, Joe Keller and Herbert Deever ran a machine shop that manufactured airplane parts and supplied them to the U.S. Air Force for the war effort.
After the death of several young soldiers because of this defective part, Deever is sent to prison. Keller goes free and returns to his life of success and respect.
As the truth is unraveled and begins to surface, the families must make some difficult choices. Their very survival is at stake.
The work marked Miller's first major success as one of America's premier playwrights, earning a 1947 Tony Award for his writing.
Other shows on the schedule are Steve Martin's "The Underpants," Neil Simon's "Plaza Suite," and Mary Rodgers' and Marshall Barer's "Once Upon a Mattress." "Plaza Suite" is the show scheduled for the Valentine's Dinner Theater and will run for six days.
Tickets are on sale two weeks before the performances begin. Regular ticket price is $10.00, seniors/SSU faculty/Staff, $8.00, and SSU students with a valid ID, $3.00.
