My Sister’s Closet Clothing Boutique open first week in
October
For the third year, the Women’s Center at Shawnee State
University will sponsor “My Sister’s Closet Clothing
Boutique” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4 through
Friday, Oct. 8 in the basement of Massie Hall, Room 019A.
The boutique is open to the public and will feature gently
used clothing, jewelry, purses, shoes and other accessories
as well as books. The items were donated by SSU employees,
students and community members. This year’s boutique will
also feature a silent auction of designer handbags.
“This is a fun way for our employees to clean out their home
closets while benefiting the SSU Mobile Health Unit and the
Pike County Domestic Violence Shelter at the same time,”
said Mistie Spicer, assistant to the president who
coordinates the boutique for the Women’s Center.
Proceeds from the boutique will go to purchase gas for the
Mobile Health Unit. Spicer said any unsold clothing will be
donated to the Pike County Domestic Violence Shelter.
The SSU Mobile Health Unit is a mobile medical facility with
two exam rooms, video equipment and two staff nurse
practitioners. The unit serves five counties including
Adams, Lawrence and Scioto counties in Ohio and Carter and
Greenup counties in Kentucky. SSU nursing students perform a
number of screenings at locations throughout the service
area.
Parking for the public is available behind Massie Hall near
the back entrance where the office of University Outreach
Services is located.
