Shawnee State University students joined a national movement to honor the victims, survivors and first responders. On Saturday, Sept. 10, 60 students met at the Flohr Lecture Hall for breakfast and to hear from John Valentine, Ph.D., retired professor, Mandie Maxwell, student M3C representative and J.R. Boldman, Rotaract representative.
The students departed to volunteer at 18 different locations throughout Portsmouth and met at 5 p.m. for the "Lest We Forget" dinner sponsored by the Plymouth Heights Church of the Nazarene. Two students from SSU's sister university, South China Normal University, Xueping Huang, left, and Jingxuan Li, right, helped put together shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child project at Bigelow Baptist Church in Portsmouth.
