Portsmouth Pantry Garden has Plentiful Harvest

            More than 2,000 pounds of vegetables have been harvested from the Portsmouth Pantry Garden including potatoes, squash, corn, tomatoes, cabbage, zucchini, watermelons, cantaloupes, pumpkins, lettuce, beans, onions, and many other vegetables. Mason Bradbury, left, and Sarah Bachman, Shawnee State University student gardener, show some of the potatoes just harvested.
            Bradbury and Bachman along with Joshua Aeh, not in photo, worked all summer on the garden to produce the numerous fresh vegetables donated to God’s Pantry at Second Presbyterian Church and the Salvation Army. Kelly Hatas and Sarah Lowe, service leaders with AmeriCorps/VISTA at Shawnee State University received a grant from the Ohio Campus Compact for the Pantry Garden.
