IBEX to be featured at SSU’s Clark Planetarium
On Monday, July 19, at Shawnee State University’s Clark
Planetarium will feature “IBEX: Search for the Edge of the
Solar System” that examines the boundary between the solar
system and interstellar space. Using the IBEX spacecraft,
scientists are making unprecedented observations of the
outer shell of the solar system, the heliosheath.
The show will
begin at 7 p.m. with “Two Small Pieces of Glass” before the
IBEX show. “Two Small Pieces of Glass” traces the history of
the telescope from Galileo's modifications to spyglass,
using two small pieces of glass, to the launch of NASA's
Hubble Space Telescope and the future of astronomy. It
explores the wonder and discovery made by astronomers
throughout the last 400 years. If the first show is full, a
repeat showing will begin at 8 p.m.
