SSU Occupational Therapy Faculty Attends Florida Conference

Several Shawnee State University faculty members and one student attended The American Occupational Therapy Association’s 90th Annual Occupational Therapy Conference and Expo in Orlando, Fla. in May.
Debra Scurlock, Ph.D., director of the Master of Occupational Therapy program at SSU; Christine Raber, Ph.D., associate professor; Ed Kehres, Ph.D., assistant professor; Kim Vicars, director of Occupational Therapy Assistant program; Lisa Whitten, instructor; and Jan Hager, MOT student, attended the conference.
Hager and Raber presented a poster for the Expo about a research project on the role of occupational therapy in community fall prevention and the Ross/Scioto counties SHIP programs.
Scurlock went to the conference a day earlier to attend a special workshop for directors.
“It is a great time to catch up on anything new in the world of occupational therapy,” Scurlock said. “I wanted to know how the other schools were doing and their pass rates on the exams to see where we stand in the country. I think our students are as good as or better than most.”
