Singers at Shawnee State
University to perform in China

Several faculty and student singers at Shawnee State University will be performing in Shanghai and in the Jiangxi Province in China this summer.

They will perform several times joining with Chinese singers and a Chinese orchestra on Saturday, Aug. 6 in Shanghai. James Huang, a student at Shawnee State organized the performances. The singers will be performing one of his own compositions, "A Dream Far from Our Homeland."

Huang composed several other pieces, "Spring Garden," "Dating Under the Full Moon," Memories in the Fall," "Seashell Reverie," "Beijing Olympic Dream Comes True," "Testament of Love," "Only Snow in This Winter," "Emotion Over Mt. Sanqingshan," and a piece in memory of Michael Jackson that the singers will be performing.

Dr. Michael Barnhart will also be performing his own compositions, "Enchanted Dance I" and "Enchanted Dance II." On Monday, Aug. 8, the singers will travel to Huang's hometown in Xinyu City to perform.
