The Autism Project of Southern Ohio has established two scholarships awarded through the Shawnee State University Development Foundation to SSU students, the Autism Project Scholarship and the Portsmouth Area Individuals with Disabilities Scholarship.
SSU student Cameron Hoover was awarded the Autism Project Scholarship for the 2010-11 academic year. The scholarship is awarded to students in teacher education with emphasis in special education or intervention.
The Portsmouth Area Individuals with Disabilities Scholarship was awarded to Melissa Collins for the 2010-11 academic year. Collins is a junior at SSU majoring in Intervention Specialist. The scholarship is awarded to students with lifelong disabilities pursuing bachelor's degrees.
The Autism Project of Southern Ohio also made a $2,000 donation to the Children's Learning Center this year.
