Anthony J. Dzik, Ph.D., geography professor at Shawnee State University, will be signing his new book "Badlands of the American West: A Primer" at a book signing at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 26 at Shawnee State University's Clark Memorial Library Alcove.
The book presents an introduction to the Badlands environment in plain language and it is fully illustrated with 36 full-color photos, diagrams, and maps.
In addition to the signing Dzik is going to have a display of some of the treasures he found which includes petrified wood, Oligocene camel teeth, a piece of a Eocene Hyracodon jaw, some scoria and a hunk of lignite.
He will also be showing a film he created, "Badlands Encounter: Toadstool Geologic Park, Nebraska" and he will give a PowerPoint presentation "Badlands Journeys."
Dzik will be selling his book for $11 and he will donate a dollar from each book sold that day to the Clark Memorial Library.
The event is free and open to the public.
