The Shawnee State University Choir, under the direction of Shirley Crothers-Marley, will present its spring concert, "A Sunday Serenade" at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 29 in the Howland Recital Hall at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts.
Stanley Workman, Ph.D., and Karen Moore will be accompanists along with Vince Shirey, a guest accompanist. Andrew Ginn will provide percussion accompaniment. Composers Mozart, Verdi, Mascagni, Borodin, Bizet, Puccini, Purcell and Donzetti will be represented.
Vocal soloists include Chad Bragdon, Maria Minter Ginn, Marjorie Hawkins, Tony Sturgeon, Valerie Webb, Rick Bender and Jeff Collins. Instrumental soloists will be Karen Moore, Stephanie Scaggs and Aidan Perry. The Lois Rase dancers will also be featured.
The concert is free and open to the public and it is sponsored by a friend of the arts, Fluor-B&W Portsmouth, LLC.
