Each room was staffed with five officials, a moderator, scientific judge, scorekeeper, rules judge and timekeeper. Students were quizzed on biology, physics, chemistry, energy, math and earth and space science.

The students came from Jackson, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties.

Schools participating were Chillicothe, Glenwood New Boston, Jackson, Lucasville Valley (two teams), Minford (two teams), Northwest (two teams), Notre Dame, Paint Valley (two teams), Portsmouth West (two teams), Sciotoville Community, Waverly (two teams), Western (two teams), and Zane Trace.
