Shawnee State University Theatre Department Forms Actors Anonymous Club
Shawnee State University students have a new club called
Actors Anonymous that is being offered to students who are
involved in theatre activities at the university.
“Students
must already be involved in theatre activities to be
eligible to become a member,” John Huston, associate
professor of Theatre in the Fine, Digital and Performing
Arts Department. “They will accumulate points for every
activity in which they participate before eligibility can be
extended.”
The points
that will be accumulated by the students are based on
production activities. The club will be affiliated with a
national fraternity called Alpha Psi Omega.
Students who
are not involved in theatre, but would like to be, are
encouraged to audition for shows that are put on each
semester by the SSU Theatre Department.
Audition
flyers can be found around campus within the first 2-3 weeks
of classes each semester. This semester the spring
production is called “Noises Off.” New York critics
described the play as “the funniest farce ever written.”
The
production will take place at 7:30 p.m. on April 1, 2, and 3
at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts on the Main Stage.
General
admission for the play is $8, while seniors, students and
faculty pay $6. To purchase tickets contact the McKinley Box
Office at (740) 351-3600.
