Fabulous Friday, an annual conference for child care providers and early childhood educators, is scheduled this year from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13 on the campus of Shawnee State University.
Barbara Trube, Ed.D., this year's keynote speaker, is the assistant dean for Academic Engagement and Outreach in The Patton College at Ohio University. She has more than forty years of experience as an educator in P-20 settings. Her publications include "Let's Move" and "Creating Caring Classroom Communities" located in Ohio Resource Center's Resources in Early Childhood Building Blocks. Trube's research interests include project and content based teaching and learning for English language learners and international mentoring.
Several concurrent sessions are scheduled for the day, such as the ABC's of Teaching Nutrition, Creative Science and Scientific Art, Creativity Unleashed, Handwriting Fun, Inside Out Outside In, My Feelings Your Feelings: Creating Understanding Through Play, Picture Books: A Treasure Chest for Vocabulary Development, Puppet Express and many more. At noon, the Friend of Children Award will be presented during the Fabulous Friday luncheon.
Pre-registration for classes is required, as participants earn a certificate of completion for each session. Register before March 16 for the Early Bird cost of $70 and after March 16, the cost is $95. Full-time college students' cost is $19 and full-time high school students' cost is $10.
